This post is sponsored by Lowe’s but as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Ahhhh we made it!! It’s the final week of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home and we successfully renovated our master en suite in 6 weeks and turned it into the modern vintage bathroom of our dreams! I couldn’t be more in love with this room and am DYING to share it with you guys!
If you want to see where we started and all the progress we made you can follow along from the start: Week 1 :: Week 2 :: Week 3 :: Week 4 :: Week 5.
MODERN VINTAGE BATHROOM REVEAL
Let’s take a quick look down memory lane and what this room used to look like.
Anndddd here’s where we are now…come on in! (I’ll share links to everything at the bottom of the post)
*affiliate links included
Thank you sooo much to everyone who chimed in on my basket debate on instagram…I ended up going with a combo of the round baskets and I love them! There’s nothing in them yet, but they’re the perfect added storage for us.
And can we talk about these gorgeous floors from Lowe’s? They really opened up this space and made it feel huge.
This corner was so awkward and really challenged me but I’m super happy with this little nook we created. I just didn’t feel like I’d use a vanity area very much so this just made more sense.
And when you turn the corner…ahh this view! I don’t even know where to begin!
That shower door is seriously what dreams are made of. It was the very last thing we put in and it totally tied the whole room together.
I don’t think we realized how HUGE this shower was going to be once we knocked down the walls and built the new ones. We kept the floor the same as the rest of the floor tile and used these 6×6 tiles on the wall.
I’m so happy with how this DIY Ladder Shelf turned out…it was such an easy project so be sure to check out my tutorial!
Oh and hello gorgeous rain shower head and vintage rug.
Moving on to the tub…I still haven’t used it yet because we need to put a couple more coats of sealer on it to protect it from the water but I.CAN’T.WAIT.
I’m in love with all these gorgeous brass fixtures. I was a little worried about the placement of this faucet but it was really the only place we could put it and I think it works.
I originally bought some brackets to put a shelf above the toilet but there just didn’t seem like there was enough room so I went with a simple macrame wall hanging I made instead.
Gahh I couldn’t be more in love with this antique vanity I scored on Craigslist. It’s PERFECT.
I paired it with some gorgeous brass sconces on either side of a wood mirror and love how they all play off of one another. Lighting can be tricky to choose but I followed some tips from my friend Ashley on choosing the right size for a wall sconce. It was so helpful!
Here’s the view from inside the shower…I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of it.
Oh and see that fan in the shower? It’s also a blue tooth speaker so you can jam out while you’re getting clean. Best decision ever.
I’d say our second One Room Challenge was a success 😉 I can’t believe the transformation and how far this space has come. We couldn’t have done it without our awesome contractor Paul Frease (if you’re local look him up!) and my FIL and hubs. They all rock and put up with my crazy ideas.
And a HUGE thanks to Lowe’s for making this all possible and providing product for our new dream modern vintage bathroom!

Thank you! We used French Grey by Bostik 🙂

Nice job! I need to set up a “picture taking station” like you have. I love the wall you put together. I actually want to cover a wall in our bedroom like that. Love it.

Hi. Love your bathroom! Sourcing products for own own bathroom remodel. Silly question…What is the brand/model of your toilet? 🙂
Thanks!
brepurposed says
Hi! The brand is Sterling but I’m not sure of the model – it was here when we moved in!
Wes M says
Thank you!!!

Okay firstly I am jealous of your skills! I love the wooden finish of the bathtub, totally getting that done

Aw thank you! You totally should!

I just love you bathroom, and need to copy it! How big is it?
Sophia says
I love your modern vintage bathroom, you really combine both modern and vintage cleverly. I hope some time you can share with us how to make this diy shelf step by step.
Macs says
Your bathroom is so gorgeous! This is a great inspiration. Putting that nook in the corner is so perfect. Plus the ladder shelves, speakers, and choice of tiles, everything in it blended well. I also observed the tiles were up to the ceiling in the shower?
McKenzie says
This looks so amazing. I love the many different tile types used, and I love how bright it is. Thank you for sharing!
gabrielle says
Hi Bre –
I love what you’ve done with everything! I’m currently starting a master bath project and am using so much of this as inspiration. I have a question about the shower door. Our house is from the 1920’s, so I’ve been looking at some of the paned glass shower doors to keep with the classic vibe. Not cheap, as you know. The one you used is very reasonable and seems easy to install. How do you feel about the plastic appliqué used to mimic the metal-frames though? I love how it looks in your photos, but was just wondering if the quality translates in person. Does it look or feel fake? Thanks in advance for your opinion!
brepurposed says
Hi Gabrielle! Thank you so much! And I love it! You really don’t notice that it’s not a metal frame and it looks very sleek and modern so I would definitely recommend it!
Leslie says
I’m obsessed with your master! We are renovating and I’m determined to get this look in my master. I’m having an impossible time finding two mid century dressers! Were you nervous to not put a top on it? Everyone is telling me I really need to, that is if I ever find two pieces that will work together. It’s absolutely gorgeous!!!!
brepurposed says
Hi Leslie! The dresser already had a veneer on it so it’s been holding up great so far! I thought about putting a marble top or something more durable on it but it wipes down quite easily and hasn’t left any stains or water marks!
HeathEr says
Hey there! I absolutely love your bathroom remodel and like everyone else, the shower door is gorgeous. I’m considering it for a project I’m working on and have a quick question. At only 36″ wide have you had any issues with water splashing out of the shower? Thanks!!
brepurposed says
Hi Heather! It only sprays out very minimally and I always put a regular bath mat right outside so the rug doesn’t get wet and that works perfectly! It also helps to have a rain type shower head where the water shoots straight down and not out at an angle. Hope that helps, we really love it!
Aileen says
Awesome idea with the dresser! I have this exact bedroom set just collecting dust in a spare bedroom. You should see how big the mirror is that came attached to the back of this very dresser. It would be perfect in your space too!
Let me know if you might be interested in it. We don’t have the budget to do anything with it…
I want to sing and play in your big shower!
Great Job!
Aileen
Bonnie says
Do you still have the set? If so, I might be interested!
Abby klatsky says
Hi Bre! This room is so inspiring to me! I seriously cannot get over the transformation! WOW! You have some serious style.
I’m thinking of converting a mid-century dresser into a vanity for a bathroom reno for a client. Did you end up finding a taller than average dresser for this project? I’m just curious because mid-cent dressers are usually about 30″ high which really seems low for a bathroom vanity. Please let me know your solution or if you think the height is ok?? I see the sink adds a bit of height here.
Thanks in advance and thanks for keeping all of us updated with your beautiful home reno!
brepurposed says
Aw thank you so much Abby! So our vanity is about 31″ and with the sink it makes it 36″. I honestly don’t have any issues with it and think it’s the perfect height! For frame of reference I’m on the tallerish side (5’7″) and it works great for me. Hope that helps!
Delaney says
How did you make and install the shelf above the tub? Love!
Michelle says
Did she ever respond about this shelf?
brepurposed says
Hi Michelle! I just bought and stained a piece of wood from Home Depot. While my FIL was tiling he just glued it right in and tiled around it to help it stay. Hope that helps!
Charly says
Hi! I love your bathroom reno. I just had one question, the Turkish towels hanging next to the tub above the basket containing the grey rolled towels, are those black or grey? Thank you!
brepurposed says
Thank you so much! They are an off white and gray 🙂
Savannah Davis says
Absolutely stunning transformation. I adore your style! Would you please tell me what stain you used for the cedar planks around the tub? Thank you!
brepurposed says
Thank you! We used Red Chestnut – you can see the whole post on the planking here: https://brepurposed.porch.com/2017/05/31/install-wood-planking-bathtub/
CoreY says
Can you tell me what the corner shelf in the shower and bottom frame of the shower is made of? Looks like shelf the products sit on in the shower is the same material as well. Some kind of imitation marble or a quartz? Everything looks great and I appreciate the post.
Bicudo says
Wow! We’ve just started renovating our bathroom and this has given me some inspiration. I would love to see the DIY instructions for those leaning ladder shelves. They would be perfect in our new room. Do you know when they might be ready?
brepurposed says
Hi There! Here is the post for the DIY Shelf (sorry I forgot to link it up!) https://brepurposed.porch.com/2017/05/24/diy-leaning-shelf/
BIcudo says
Awesome. Thank you. I know what I’ll be doing this weekend.
galen says
Being tall I’m incredibly envious of your bath tub, but I’m also curious by your mention of a coating for it. What are you using and what is its purpose?
brepurposed says
We had to seal the wood so it wouldn’t absorb the water and harm the wood – you can read more about it in this post! https://brepurposed.porch.com/2017/05/31/install-wood-planking-bathtub/
Amanda says
This is one of the most thorough blogs I’ve EVER read. Your bathroom is GORGEOUS. We’re about to renovate ours & I also love wood tones mixed in with traditional whites & grays. Do you still love your wood bath apron or do wish you’d gone with a wood look tile? My husband takes baths at night & is not the neatest bather. Just curious. Thanks so much!
brepurposed says
Thank you Amanda! I don’t regret it one bit! Our two kids take baths in here and splash like crazy! We haven’t had any issues at all!
Julia@Cuckoo4Design says
It’s such a stunning, spacious and luxurious bath. I would pinch myself every day because I’m in love.
Jenn says
Incredible! This is like my dream room—and it’s only a bathroom?!? So gorgeous, definitely going to be hooked on your blog from this one post! I do have a random question—it looks like your Q-Tips are in a turned bowl of some kind (ceramic? stone?), or a milk-bottle style match striker like the one offered by FarmHouse Pottery… I’m obsessed with whatever your Q-Tips are in! Any info you could share whether its a photo or a link would be amazing! (Can you tell I’m detail oriented? LOL!)
brepurposed says
Thank you so much Jenn!! I love that little vase! It came in a pair of two…I’m using the other as a planter in our laundry room 🙂 They’re from Left Coast Revivals…it’s an awesome online shop that sells tons of amazing vintage finds! They’re all one of a kind so unfortunately you won’t be able to buy them but I’m sure you can find something other treasures! Hope that helps! http://www.leftcoastrevivals.com/
Jenn says
AWESOME! I love alllll their stuff, thank you so much!
Carolyn Ellis says
Wow! This is beautiful! Congrats on the project, hope you keep bringing us these amazing inspirations.
brepurposed says
Thank you so much Carolyn!
Rach says
This is absolutely fabulous. Can you share where you got the small brass vase?
brepurposed says
Thank you! It’s from Target and it’s actually a wine glass or drinking cup or some kind so you would find it in the kitchen aisle!
Laura says
Congratulations! The bathroom looks fantastic! I just love every bit! Maybe you’ve shared already, but do you have plans orca tutorial for the corner bench? I love how simple it is and would like to build something similar in my small, eat in kitchen.
Thanks!
Laura says
Didn’t mean to type “orca”. Do you have plans FOR THE corner bench? That’s what I meant. 😉
brepurposed says
Hi Laura! Thank you so much!! I haven’t shared it yet but will be soon!
Pat M. says
Bre – I’ve been following you for some time – through two rentals – and now in this wonderful big but dated home. I thought I absolutely loved what you did to your laundry room but this bathroom knocks me off my feet – or chair, as it is. You are a wonderful designer and I hope you get the recognition you deserve on a national level. I love the shower door, yes, but I love everything else also. The only thing I would have done differently is to skip the ladder shelf and use that wall to hang large fluffy towels or soft terry bathrobes on gold-toned hooks so they are convenient when getting out of the shower and to add to your very elegant spa atmosphere. Oh, yes – the rug. It is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen in that style. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. I can’t wait to see your next project!!
brepurposed says
Aw this just made my day. Seriously, you are too sweet. I appreciate your kind words so much and love to hear that you’ve been with me since the beginning! Can’t wait to share more projects soon! xo
Claire says
This bathroom is absolute perfection. FANTASTIC job!!! I have been eyeing that exact shower panel for months hoping to use it in our bathroom remodel. I was so excited to see it here and that you gave it a positive review! My husband worries that it will be too cold without an official “door” though. Have you had any issues?
brepurposed says
Thank you so much Claire!! I was worried about that too and I will say I wish it was a little longer for our space (not sure how big your shower will be) but it does stay pretty warm in there! We have a fan on the ceiling on the outside with a heater that helps keep the space warm – but you could also think about putting a heated fan right in the shower! Also, our room is quite large and there is no official door so everything is pretty open which definitely doesn’t help so if you’re room is smaller it probably wouldn’t be much of an issue. But overall – we don’t really notice it being too cold!
lesli devito says
Wow!!! Just wow-ZAH!!! This is beyond a transformation…this is incredible!

Jenny says
I simply can not believe you took that bathroom and made it into this gorgeous space! Around every turn I was more amazed and in love with this space. The fixtures, your vanity, that bathtub surround – all absolutely beautiful!!!
Nicki Parrish says
Oh MY!!! I love it!!!! Your design style is just on point! What a fantastic transformation! Congratulations, and I hope you thoroughly enjoy your new space.
AMy says
This is so beautiful! And I kid you not, it’s so close to what I’m planning for our own bathroom remodel it’s uncanny, haha! I also scored a gorgeous mid-century dresser off craigslist for our vanity, and so many of the other details are extremely similar. I’m glad to see I still like it all finished and not just in my head! But I’ll be lucky if mine is done in 6 months vs. 6 weeks. What was supposed to just be a regular, old remodel has turned into a half full-gut-renovation/half tear-down-to-the-ground-and-start-from-the-foundation-up! But thanks for another pin to add to my renovation boards! Such a great bathroom!
Casey says
absolutely stunning! That shower is to die for. Great job!!

This is the most beautiful bathroom I have ever seen. Incredible design. What color grout did you use on the tiles? And the tile link sent me to “wall tiles” did you use wall tiles on the floor? Are there any issues with doing this?

Thank you so much Lizzie! We used French Grey for the grout 🙂 And the tile can totally be used on the floor or walls – no issues!

I can’t seem to find French Gray grout on the Lowe’s site. Is that where you purchased it?

Girl, this bathroom looks SO fresh!! I’m so in love with how much space you have in there – such a great layout! Loving the classic subway tile and that shower partition is out of this world. Beautiful! ✌🏻

Adina says
Good lord! This is so beautiful. Do you plan on sharing a DIY for the storage bench? Also, I had read that the vintage wool rugs aren’t recommended for wet spaces like a bathroom, how do you justify this and keep it from getting musty smelling?
brepurposed says
Hi Adina! Thank you, yes I will definitely be sharing a tutorial for the bench! As for the rug – since the bathroom is so large and doesn’t even have a door, I don’t think it will ever get too wet and damp in there but I’ll definitely take the rug out from time to time to air it out!
