One Room Challenge Week 5 :: The Final Stretch!

05/01/19

It’s the finalll count downnnn. We’re so close! We have one week left before the big reveal next week and things are looking good over here. I’m feeling pretty stress free right now so hopefully things stay that way.

To catch up, you can check out all our progress up to this point.

Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4

Alright so we’ve had a super productive week this past week! Our contractor came over and helped us hook up the sink and vanity situation. This is definitely something you can DIY on your own, but we decided to hire it out because plumbing isn’t something we’re super familiar with.

Once that was in, things were really starting to look good.

Green and White Tile Bathroom

The next big thing that happened was our mirror got delivered! And when I say delivered, I mean hand delivered by Lindsay from Edgework Creative who drove 3 hours to drop it off! I mean, is that some amazing customer service or what?! And you guys, it’s SO good.

They do incredible work and I’m so happy we were able to connect for this project. The mirror is HEAVY. So hanging it up was a little nerve wracking but we did it and it hasn’t fallen down yet so we’re all good there.

Green and White Color Block Tile

The last few things we need to do are hang up a towel hook and the toilet paper holder and get the lights up. The lights are a little tricky so we’ve been waiting to have our contractor come back to help us, which should be happening today!

Oval Sink with Brass Faucet

We previously had two canned lights and the holes in the ceiling were about 7″ wide. I couldn’t find any lights I liked with a canopy large enough to cover those existing holes so I spray painted the old canned light frame black and we’re going to glue the new light canopy on top of that. It will take some adjustments to make it work so that’s why we’re having our contractor do it.

And once that’s all done then I can decorate! Not that there is too much to do, but I have a little rug on the way and I’m going to get some little plants and candles etc. I’m debating about whether or not I should put some artwork on the ledge above the toilet but can’t make a decision on that yet.

I’m so happy with how this is all turning out and can’t wait to show you guys the big reveal next week!

I can tell already that it will be absolutely amazing. Your style is so my style – I just don’t have the $$$ to make it happen. So happy for you that you will have such a beautiful bathroom.

This is so so beautiful. I love how you somehow managed to make the tile both edgy and timeless.

We spent a few days this past week at the @thedwel We spent a few days this past week at the @thedwellbox in Amish Country and never wanted to leave! More and more lately we’re realizing the importance of family and nurturing those relationships. This was the perfect place to unwind, reconnect and enjoy an adventure together without worrying about capturing it all on our phones. We went for a hike, sat by the fire, ate wayyy too many pastries and cheeses and loved every minute of it. Sharing a video tour in stories today! If you’re in the area - we highly recommend a stay here!

As always, there’s two sizes for you to choose from and a short easy tutorial for you to follow to make the cute little wooden stand too 📅 My little office nook has gone through a lot of phases since we first moved in 4.5 years ago (swipe through to see them all!) and last year I finally upgraded my desk to one I could properly sit at 🤣 I took two Alex drawers from IKEA and added wood trim and caning for an elevated look and topped it off with a faux butcher block counter made from a $30 door slab. 👊🏻 the cherry on top for this space was our new skylight that instantly brightened it up and brings in so much beautiful natural light ☀️ this nook never felt quite right until now and I’m excited to spend more time here this year working on lots of exciting projects! Oh 2020. While it wasn’t what any of us expected Oh 2020. While it wasn’t what any of us expected I’m focusing on all the good that came out of it. I remember sitting with Dan New Year’s Eve last year and being so hopeful for what our future held and praying it would bring us another baby after we had been trying with no luck. I found out only a couple weeks later I was pregnant and that joy carried us through the year even though it brought fear and worry along with it. Besides welcoming our sweet baby girl into our lives we experienced so many other amazing things. The time we got to spend as a family is something we’ll always cherish. We worked on so many projects together and continued to pour our hearts into making this house a place we can call home. And we built A LOT of arches 🤣 Eloise was on the cover of a magazine, Hawk’s hair grew back in full force, we beat Covid and captain Christmas reminded us what the holiday season is really about. but most importantly we leaned into god and relied on him more than ever to get us through each day. That’s the relationship I want to continue to work on and I’m grateful that this year nudged me closer to the One who deserves all the glory and continues to be faithful 🙏🏻 happy new year friends 🤍 cheers to 2021 🍾
