I can’t hide my excitement about this one you guys! I think it’s my favorite piece to date. General Finishes sent me some samples of their paint a while back and I finally got around to using this gorgeous color; Klein Blue. I’d seen it used before and liked it but was just waiting for the right piece of furniture to come along. It’s definitely bold. And I love it 🙂
It came at the perfect time too, because General Finishes is holding their annual contest right now. Submissions are open through March 14 and then they will open voting up online! I’d love for this piece to get some love from you guys 😉 And if you have anything you’ve created using their products be sure to submit it!
Ok so I picked this piece up from one of my go to spots here and of course it was hidden behind all sorts of junk. The owner probably hates me. I feel like every time I go there he has to move tons of stuff to get to what I want. Luckily I usually end up buying it, so he can’t hate me too much 🙂
It was in pretty decent shape, so I started by wiping it down to clean off all the dirt and dust, followed by a light sanding. I painted it with 3 coats of Klein Blue and sealed it using GF Performance Top Coat in Satin.
Those panels on the front were just begging for some special attention so I wanted to highlight them using some fabric. I had some left over from this buffet makeover and loved the way it paired with the color and the arrow handles. You might have seen a little sneak peek if you follow me on insta!
I thought I was going to want to border the fabric with something, like some gold trim of some sort, but it just wasn’t looking right so I left it as is. In order to cut the correct size piece of fabric, I cut out a piece of card stock first and used that as a template. (Sorry I don’t have more process pics!) I used Mod Podge to apply it and made sure to do a coat on top of the fabric to seal it up.
There is also a shelf inside that I covered with the fabric as well.
Now, can we talk about my love affair with these arrows?? I remember seeing a fellow blogger post about them a little while ago, but unfortunately they weren’t in my Hobby Lobby yet. And then they were. And I bought them all. Which was only 3. But still, I knew I would use them and couldn’t risk them being sold out when I actually knew what I was going to use them on. Luckily it was a day when the hardware was 50% off because these bad boys are $9.99.
Aren’t they beautiful?! Let’s just take a moment to stare…
I knew they would be just perfect for this piece and love how well they complete this look.
I’m already thinking about where I can use them next hehe.
Time for some beauty shots!
Doesn’t this color just make you happy? I know it brings a smile to my face 🙂
I hope this guy can find a good home where it’s bright and bold color is appreciated.
Do colors like this scare you? Have you ever painted something in a really bold color?
Have a fabulous day everyone!
