DIY Rustic Place Setting For Fall

11/03/14

Are you still in a sugar coma from the weekend? I might be. And soon we’ll be in food comas from the next holiday! I’m so excited to be a part of this awesome blog hop with so many amazing bloggers to bring you some Thanksgiving place setting and tablescape ideas! I have no room to do an entire table so I’ll be sharing with you a Rustic Place Setting 🙂

Incorporated into each one is a DIY so you can recreate them yourself! I really had no idea what I was going to make at first and literally walked the aisles of the craft store picking up random things to buy. I had planned on doing a printable on a cute little clipboard or something but I clearly went a different route 🙂

Supplies:

:: Wood Slice
::Kraft Paper

:: Twine
:: Feather

:: Dried Lavender
:: Metal Letter
:: Stain

Supplies List

First you want to stain your piece of wood. I used Minwax’s Dark Walnut.

Wood Stain

I didn’t bother sealing it since the majority of it was going to be covered with paper anyway.

Next up, cut a piece of kraft paper a little bit smaller than your wood and glue it on. I love this Gorilla Glue Super Glue and used it for this whole project 🙂

Cutting Paper

Gorilla Glue

My “B” was kind of a brassy color and I wanted it to be gold so I spray painted it with Rust-oleum gold spray paint🙂

Gold Spray Paint

Glue your letter onto the kraft paper. I placed mine a little to the right so there was room for the feather and lavender.

Gluing Place Setting Together

Now take your feather and lavender and wrap some twine around the bottom to hold them together.

Wrapped Lavender

Place this on your wood where you want it to be and wrap the twine around a few times to secure it in place.

Wrapping Twine on Wood

That’s it! Super easy right? We spend Thanksgiving with my father in law and usually keep things pretty casual, so I probably won’t be making more of these but I’m certainly going to keep it for future use! For now it’s still sitting on our small kitchen table because I love it too much to put it away. I guess I could make one for the hubs too so he doesn’t feel left out 🙂

For the rest of the setting here is the source list:

:: Gold Charger Plate – Christmas Tree Shop
:: Gold Rimmed Wine Glass – Christmas Tree Shop
:: Brown Leather Placemat – Christmas Tree Shop
:: Plate – Pier 1 Imports
:: Napkin – Pier 1 Imports

I’ve been dying to use feathers in a project and this turned out to be perfect one. And paired with the lavender, I just love it! Not only will your place setting look pretty, but it will smell good too 😉

    Have to say I’m liking all table settings I’ve seen so far but yours is very tailored looking and fairly quick to make, easy also. Love that idea. Could use those for any nice dinner you’re hosting. Where did you get your small wood slices and letters? Think walnut is great choice for wood slices. Awesome idea and how you put it together. Great project and post. Happy season

The final section of Hawk’s big boy room update The final section of Hawk’s big boy room update is done! I was struggling with how to decorate this wall with the board and batten and large dresser but a gallery wall ended up being the perfect solution 🙌🏻 and I only ended up with one random nail hole in the wall 🤪 head to stories to see his reaction and what his favorite thing is! 🥰 #gallerywall #kidsroominspo

I was thinking about this corner the other day whe I was thinking about this corner the other day when I was showering and what it used to be. Before we gutted this space there was a vanity and sink in this spot - right outside the door to the old bathroom. Which had it’s own vanity and sink. Practical or unnecessary? Clearly I felt the latter 😂 I’m not much of a sit down and do my makeup kind of girl and if Dan is in the bathroom and I need to use the sink, I’m busting in on him 🤪 so we turned this corner into a little sitting area with some useable storage that is MUCH more practical for us. And if you’re wondering, I do actually sit there, usually to blow dry my hair 💁🏻‍♀️ if you have an older house, what’s a quirky feature it has/had?
Heyyyy sexy lady 😍 this barrister bookcase got Heyyyy sexy lady 😍 this barrister bookcase got quite the transformation and I couldn’t be more in love with it!! It felt good to work on a piece of furniture again and took me back to my early blogging roots. I’ll never get tired of the thrill of finding a second hand piece and transforming it into something beautiful. Hope you enjoyed following along on this process and learned some new tricks because I know I sure did! I threw some random decor in there but I can’t wait to style this baby up! #breinspired
Our laundry room was the first room we renovated w Our laundry room was the first room we renovated when we moved into this home. Mainly because it was the room my FIL had the least emotional attachment to 🤣 I still love it today but have been needing a little change. I’m in this room ALL the time, and was getting bored of looking at the same stuff! So I switched out the laundry basket, hung some artwork on the tile and changed up my vase and greenery. And it instantly feels just different enough to put a smile on my face and kinda make me want to fold all the kids laundry that’s been sitting in the dryer for far too many days 😜 little changes that make a big impact are my favorite 🙌🏻 truthfully: I daydream about painting the cabinets in here too - they read darker in photos but in real life are much more blue. I’ll save that for another day 😉 but for now I’ll stick to painting my bookcase. Head to stories to catch the first stroke of black! 🖤
Who’s cuter? Dilly or the new legs we added to m Who’s cuter? Dilly or the new legs we added to my barrister bookcase? 😍 you know I’m all about repurposing around here and I love that we were able to take legs and other curved pieces from a $20 table I found on Facebook marketplace and add them to this guy! It wasn’t easy and if you get real close you’ll see lots of screws and chipped veneer 😂 but they’re on and I love them. Celebrating slow progress - because that’s how I’m rolling these days 🤪 can’t wait to start painting soon! #breinspired
BREPURPOSED IS 7! Let’s celebrate! 🥳 I still BREPURPOSED IS 7! Let’s celebrate! 🥳 I still remember all the emotions I felt as I hit publish on that first blog post so many years ago. Thank you for continuing to show up and be a part of this with me - I’m so proud of the community we’ve built here together and appreciate each and every one of you more than you know 🤍 now for the fun part!
