Budget Kitchen Makeover

Ok I feel like I’ve left you guys hanging on our budget kitchen makeover and I’m sorry! I’ve been sharing TONS of updates over on instagram though so if you haven’t been following along there make sure you do! We’ve still got some things left on our to do list but we’ve come a long way since we started this little makeover and I wanted to share some progress with you. I had a little photo shoot over the weekend for our new fridge, so thought it was the perfect time to snap some pics while things were clean.

BUDGET KITCHEN MAKEOVER UPDATE

To give you a refresher, here is what the kitchen looked like when we started:

And here is where we are right now:

I honestly can’t even believe this is the same kitchen! It’s amazing what a little paint and cosmetic changes can do. And speaking of which…here’s a breakdown of what we’ve done so far.

COMPLETED

STILL LEFT TO DO

  • Replace light above the sink
  • Replace sink and faucet
  • Possibly replace stove and dishwasher
  • Waiting on a custom butcher block countertop for the island that Janine from If you Give a Girl a Saw is building for us
  • Figure out a way to hide all the mail/paperwork clutter on the counter

We really don’t have too much left! I’m soooo excited about our custom butcher block counter for the island. I’ve been working with Janine on some designs for it and once I have some more info to share I will!

I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy THIS LIGHT for above the sink and then I’d like to get a white drop in sink and hopefully a brass faucet. A new stove and dishwasher would obviously be bigger purchases so we’re trying to decide if that makes sense right now or not. But once that new fridge went in, I feel like the other black appliances stick out like a sore thumb. Especially the dishwasher. So we’ll see what happens there.

As for the mail/paperwork situation on the counter – I’d LOVE to know how you and your family keep things organized. We have a little metal paper organizer but it doesn’t completely conceal the paper so everything just falls out of it all over the place and it’s not the cutest. I love how much counter space we have, but it always ends up being a catch all for everyone’s crap. So tell me your secrets!

I know you all are patiently waiting on the tutorials for how I painted the cabinets and the backsplash, and I promise they are both coming soon!

So that’s where we are right now. It’s definitely not my dream kitchen, but it’s so much more my style that what it was before and I actually get happy when I walk in here. I’ll be sharing a full reveal soon when it’s all done but I wanted to give you guys an update!

It’s amazing how much of the original room is still there and yet it looks like a whole new space! I can’t believe how much nicer those tiles look in comparison to how they looked before!! They look totally timeless, instead of dated.

    Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

This looks awesome! Great job!! Do you mind me asking where the vase is from? I’ve been looking for one just like that for our eucalyptus stems on the dining room table 😉

Can you switch out the panel on your dishwasher to stainless to make it fit in better?
