Roahl Dahl Quote

Hi friends. No freebie today but I just wanted to drop in and wish you a happy weekend and share my plans. By the way isn’t that quote great? It’s from Roald Dahl who I absolutely love. He was one of my favorite authors growing up and he’s full of lots of wise words 🙂

This is the first weekend in a while that I don’t have anything going on, which I’m so excited about because I have a lot of bloggy projects that I need to get started on 🙂

My main project for the weekend is this little desk:

Desk

Isn’t it the cutest?! I got it a month or so ago back when it was Garage Sale Weekend in our town. Price tag: $5! It definitely needs a little fixing up and some of the drawers are a pain in the buns to open and close. Whoever gave it this lovely white paint job did a terrible job and should never paint furniture again. Ok, that’s a little harsh, but it took me almost an hour to sand down the top.

I joined a new group called the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest and each month there is a new theme with a sponsor who offers up goodies for the winner. The theme this month is Shabby Chic Storage and the sponsor is The Old Fashioned Milk Paint Co. I’ve never used their paint before so I’m stoked to give it a try on this piece. I opted for Tavern Green, which I don’t think I’ve ever used anything remotely close to before.

Hardware is still up in the air, because I can never decide on that until the piece is fully painted. I’m weird like that.

As for the drawers, I’ll be cutting it close with my recent Spoonflower oder. I procrastinated in ordering some paper, and spent WAY too long on their site last night trying to find the perfect pattern.

Here’s what I ordered, but we’ll have to see if it gets here in time!

I’ve got a lot of work to do but I can’t wait to see how this little desk turns out!

What are your plans this weekend? I hope you’re up to some fun!

I have used Old Fashioned Milk Paint, it is beautiful to work with, very smooth when mixed. Have fun making this over, can’t wait to see your magic!!!
